In my opinion, AI is no more of a danger to humanity than past dire warnings about YTK, global warming, or freezing temperatures. AI was created and will always be controlled by human intelligence, and that fact must control our considerations. Those who create panic or fear belong to a minority who don't understand that progress in technology and science is generally good.
Did humanity totally reject the changes that introduced the reality of electricity, the internet, convenient devices, or medical solutions to horrible diseases?
As folks age, we naturally resist changes to the comfortable status quo of "the good old days" of yesterday. However, change is a natural part of living. We share a responsibility to understand AI and other changes in our lives and recognize the effects on our personal liberty and lives.
I welcome a future of changes that hold the possibility of improving humanity, and I question the fear-mongering of politicians and others.
