THE SADNESS OF SOCIALISM

Then Don said, "socialism is a seriously flawed proposition; it is a persistent message from demagogic politicians mainly directed at poor and undereducated people. Unfortunately, too many allegedly 'educated" people also buy into the false promises of this economic utopia. Their war cry creates class warfare and social chaos."

He continues, "Those who have earned or inherited great fortunes are a vital segment of our capitalist system. Over the years, their innovative genius and acts of charity have provided new industries, employment opportunities, and great enrichments to our culture."

From the front row, a red-faced Verne shouts, "bullshit. Rich people don't care about anyone but themselves and their pals. Their kind don't care about universal healthcare, a living wage, or workers' rights. The federal government should be empowered to save the poor from the rich. Social Security and Obamacare are fair programs established by the government, and many more federally empowered agencies can divide wealth equally among all citizens". 

 Inherited fortunes should voluntarily or be compelled to surrender their riches to help the poor. Also, the federal government should provide universal healthcare, a guaranteed living wage, and a substantially higher minimum wage for all Americans". 

From somewhere, Rush responds. "Dear sir, has socialism ever worked? Look at Russia, North Korea, or Cuba. History clearly shows that this economic idealism has consistently failed. Under government control, an uneven flow of goods and services creates a diminished free market, decreased innovation, and a general state of misery for all".  

From a back bench, Al shouts, "Point of order, is it not wrong that millionaires and billionaires have so much wealth while so many are hopelessly impoverished? Shouldn't the government seize their wealth and distribute it to those who are poor?" "Nay, nay, someone shouts from a back bench, nations adopting socialism have consistently failed their citizens in delivering economic equality and demonized those who earned or inherited fortunes."

Finally, Bill stands up and says, " An objective view of history clearly shows governments that replace a free market with state controls on consumer goods and services consistently fail. The solution to the poison of national socialism is education and the belief that government has no business in business."
